OVERBOOTS
Forty Below® brand overboots have been used on expeditions in the world’s highest and coldest places since 1973. We make several models, each with unique designs to fit a variety of boots. They function to add insulation around and under the foot for mountaineering, ski-mountaineering, and winter travel.
Forty Below® Mountaineering Overboots are complete covers to help extend the range of double boots used for high altitude and extreme cold environments. They are used on expeditions to the Himalayas, Alaska Range, Seven Summits, Antarctica, Polar Regions, and more. They insulate around and under your boot, using stretchy, nylon-covered, closed-cell neoprene foam as the insulation. Our designs and materials make them easy to put on in the cold, fit trim to the boots so they are not bulky or cumbersome, and easy to repair. All of the insulation panels are glued together, and then surface stitched on both sides to provide extra strength. In addition, the toe, lower side, and heel areas have been painted with a rubbery material for enhanced durability and stitching protection.
The Forty Below® Mountaineering overboot models: Forty Below ® K2 Superlight™, Forty Below® Purple Haze™, and Forty Below® Penguins™ fit with a wide range of “step-in” (wire toe/flip lever heel), “hybrid style” (strap toe/flip-lever heel) and “strap-on” style crampon bindings, and some ski mountaineering bindings. The Forty Below® Mt. Everest™ overboot with its insulated sole and thin rubber outsole must be used with a strap-on style crampon or snowshoe binding.
The Forty Below® Light Energy™ overboots are a new line of overboots and layering components designed to help insulate single boots in both cold and more temperate conditions. These extra lightweight models are designed to fit with trail running shoes, leather climbing boots, hiking boots, cross country ski boots, and camp booties.
Our goal is to help you have happy warm toes! Please take a look at our wide range of overboots, and be sure to call or email us if you have any questions or need help in selecting the right ones for you!
